Venture Beyond the Curb in the river city of Ludlow

The river city of Ludlow is a charming, small town with an eclectic mix of arts and music as well as destinations such as Circus Mojo, Second Sight Spirits distillery, Bircus Brewing, and the popular Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club.

This Sunday, Sept. 22, Ludlow will be the site of the ninth installment of the Beyond the Curb series, a self-guided tour that showcases the lifestyle options of Northern Kentucky’s river cities.

This year’s fall tour, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., is focused on Ludlow, and offers a look inside the homes of this interesting town, including historic houses, a luxury condo, and a renovated apartment.

“Ludlow has a sort of energy now,” says Jill Morenz, director of community initiatives at The Catalytic Fund, a tour sponsor. “With artists and musicians moving in and bringing their creative energy to it and redoing some of the old houses, it’s exciting.”

The tour is great for fans of urban living, architecture and history buffs, interior design devotees, and anyone interested in learning more about one of the region’s many small towns.

The selection of properties featured on the tour includes a mix of completed and in-progress projects that could offer ideas and inspiration for anyone interested in the urban lifestyle.

Tickets include admission to behind-the-scenes tours of 12 properties, entry to win the “Everything Ludlow” raffle basket, and free parking at nearby locations. All ticket holders must start their tour at Bircus Brewing, where they will receive their official ticket, tour booklet and gift.

The tour is presented by KMK Law and the Catalytic Development Funding Corp. of Northern Kentucky. The Catalytic Fund works to accelerate Northern Kentucky’s urban renaissance through targeted investments in real estate development in Ludlow, Covington, Newport, Bellevue, and Dayton. The private, nonprofit organization maintains a $10 million investment fund and provides development services and other initiatives to communities.

“Our primary mission is to celebrate and revitalize the river cities,” Morenz says.

Early bird tickets are $15 and are available online at www.BeyondTheCurb.org until Saturday, Sept. 21. Tickets will also be available for purchase for $20 on the day of the tour, either online or at the registration area at Bircus Brewing Co., 322 Elm St. in Ludlow.
