Incentives bringing new jobs to Newport and Covington, new Energy District announced

Both Newport and Covington announced this week new jobs expected to arrive in their respective downtowns. Each city used their incentive packages to lure two companies to either side of the Licking River.

Covington's Economic Development Manager Geoff Milz announced Aug. 18  that Pro Mach Inc., a Loveland, Ohio-based packaging company, will be moving 17 headquarter jobs to the RiverCenter Towers, where 10,000 square feet in office space will be occupied by the firm. Milz said a company representative credited Covington's location and the city's incentive package as reasons for the move to the city.

Newport City Manager Tom Fromme announced a pending deal that is expected to place new jobs in office space at Newport on the Levee. The David J. Joseph Company, which is part of the scrap metal industry, would move approximately 50 jobs from Cincinnati to Newport. The company is still negotiating its potential lease with the Levee, Fromme said, and the incentive package unanimously approved by the city commission is contingent upon that lease being signed.
